Andros Townsend Hair Transplant
March 22, 2021
He's best known for his days spent kicking a ball around, but Premier League footballer Andros Townsend has also proven a cut above the opposition when it comes to his hair.
However, the winger who smashed home a wonder volley for Crystal Palace against Manchester City, plus stunning strikes for England against Montenegro, Italy, and San Marino, has also experienced a hair-raising moment off the pitch.
This has come with the remarkable transformation of his hair, and although the 29-year-old has never confirmed or denied the reports, it appears highly likely that he has visited a hair transplant clinic.
Andros Townsend hair transplant before and after
Watching Andros Townsend playing a few years ago, it was noticeable that he had lost hair at the front of his scalp, a receding hairline. It was also receding around the temples and thinning on top of his head (back towards the crown).
Fast forward to more recent seasons and he has an impressive full head of hair, with his hairline totally restored. The explanation for this is that he has probably elected to have an FUE hair transplant (follicular unit extraction).
This involves grafts being removed individually from donor areas including the back and side of the scalp and then replanted in the balding areas. This method is popular as it leaves very little trace of a hair transplant scar. Patients tend to be left with a collection of red pinpricks about 1 millimetre in diameter where hairs have been extracted and replanted, but these are unnoticeable once the hair has grown back.
FUE is particularly effective for patients who like to wear their hair short or shaved - something which Townsend has regularly done, making him highly suitable for this treatment. More details on the treatment can be found on our FUE hair transplant page.
Andros Townsend hair transplant photos
Looking at photographs of Andros Townsend gives further credence to the reports that he has been the beneficiary of treatment at a hair transplant clinic.
They show how the former Tottenham Hotspur forward's hair, which was clearly receding and thinning, is now flourishing again as he sports a thick thatch on top of his head.
It's plain to see that an FUE hair transplant enables the hair to grow, move and feel the way it used to.
